Se usa fever cuando sube la temperatura por una enfermedad: un bebé tiene fiebre alta, te sientes débil y con escalofríos, o el médico pregunta cuánto duró. Lo habitual es decir have a fever.
Matiz · Nuance
“Fever” significa “fiebre” médica, no emoción intensa en uso básico. En México “calentura” puede decirse coloquialmente, pero en inglés “fever” suena más clínico y se combina con “have” o “run”.
⚠️ Errores comunes en español
Por “tengo fiebre” sí se parece a inglés, pero el error común es omitir el artículo: “I have fever.” En inglés contable se dice “a fever”. Correcto: “I have a fever” y “She has a high fever.”
